Your Next Door Workshop

Parkwood is our neighbouring suburb. The workshop sits just across Napper Road in Arundel, so this is genuinely a local job for us and most Parkwood bookings are a few minutes each way.

The suburb has a parking pattern worth planning around. Since the light rail extension opened, plenty of residents park all day at or near the Parkwood stations and commute in, which means cars sitting uncovered in open lots from morning to evening through summer. Add the exposed car parks at Parkwood Village and the golf course and you get long, unbroken sun on the same panels day after day.

That is the profile ceramic tint is built for. For the paint, the concern here is less salt than sustained UV, sprinkler spotting and the tree sap common around the golf course and parkland edges.

What We Do

Tinting And Coating For Parkwood Cars

Ceramic Window Tinting

Carbon XP at $395, Ceramic IR at $595 and Evolve IR Ceramic at $895. For a car sitting at a light rail station from morning to evening, infrared rejection is what changes the cabin on return.

Ceramic Paint Coatings

From $995 over eight years to $1,795 over ten. Around Parkwood the practical benefit is release, so sap, sprinkler spotting and dust come off with a wash rather than a solvent and a lot of effort.

Sap & Contamination Removal

Tree sap and honeydew are acidic and etch clear coat if they bake on. We decontaminate chemically first, then correct anything that has already marked the paint, from $100 for the first hour.

Three films to choose between. Carbon XP at $395 blocks around 60 per cent of heat. Ceramic IR at $595 and Evolve IR Ceramic at $895 go considerably further on infrared, which is what matters for a car sitting uncovered near the station from morning to evening. Lifetime warranty on all three, shade included. Detail on our window tinting page.

Our three coatings run $995 over eight years to $1,795 over ten. Around Parkwood the practical benefit is release, so sap, sprinkler spotting and dust come off with a wash instead of a solvent. Paint correction is quoted separately from $100 for the first hour. Side by side on our ceramic coating page.

Both happen across the road at our Arundel workshop, and combined jobs are booked as one.

Local Conditions

What We See On Parkwood Cars

Parkwood has a very particular problem and it comes from the trees. The gums and figs along the parkland edges and around the golf course drop sap, and they host aphids that produce honeydew, which lands on paint as a fine sticky film you often cannot see until it has dried. Both are acidic. On a hot day they will etch into clear coat within hours, leaving a small crater that a wash will never remove.

Sprinkler spotting is the second one. Reticulated water carries dissolved minerals, and when it dries on a panel in full sun it leaves a ring that bonds to the surface. Cars parked near irrigated verges and fairways pick this up constantly.

Then there is the park and ride pattern. Since the light rail extension, a lot of Parkwood cars sit uncovered in open lots for eight to ten hours a day. That is the single biggest driver of interior fade we see from this suburb, and it is the reason we push UV rejection ahead of shade when people ask what film to choose.

Parkwood Questions, Answered

The things our Parkwood customers ask us most.

How close are you to Parkwood?

We are the next suburb over, on Kendor Street in Arundel, a few minutes across Napper Road. It is the closest workshop to Parkwood that we know of doing both tinting and ceramic coating in house.

Ceramic tint, comfortably. Eight to ten hours of direct sun with the car closed up is exactly what drives cabin temperature to the extremes people complain about, and it is also what fades dash tops and steering wheels. Heat rejection is the comfort payoff and UV rejection is the long term one.

Tint film is not security film, but it does hold glass together to a degree if it is struck, and it makes the interior far harder to see into. For a car left at a station all day the visibility factor is the useful part. Nothing on show means nothing worth trying.

Almost always tree sap, or honeydew from aphids in the surrounding gums and figs. It is acidic and will etch clear coat if it bakes on in the sun. On a coated car it lifts off with a wash. On unprotected paint it often needs chemical decontamination and sometimes correction.

Yes. Correction starts at $100 for the first hour, and we assess how many hours your paint actually needs rather than quoting a blanket package. It is also a prerequisite before any coating, otherwise you lock the swirls in underneath.

XPEL Fusion Plus V2 is $995 with an eight year warranty. Kovalent Borophene is $1,395 over nine years and is our most popular. Kraken Graphene Titanium is $1,795 over ten years. All include the paint preparation needed to do the job properly.

Do not scrape or pick at it. Sap that has been sitting needs a dedicated solvent and time to soften, and forcing it off dry will take clear coat with it. If it has already etched, machine correction is the only real fix. On a coated car the sap sits on the coating rather than bonding to paint, which is the practical argument for coating a car parked under trees.

Tint is not security film and we will not pretend otherwise. What it does is make the interior far harder to see into, and opportunistic break ins are usually driven by something visible. It also holds glass together to a degree if it is struck. For a car left all day, the visibility factor is the useful part.

Yes. Correction is a standalone service from $100 for the first hour, and we quote on what the paint actually needs. It is also a prerequisite before any coating goes on, because a coating is transparent and seals whatever is underneath it. Correcting afterwards means removing the coating first, which is wasted money.
