Cars, Boats And Tow Vehicles

Coomera is the marine capital of the Gold Coast. The river precinct and the boatyards along Waterway Drive mean this suburb has a higher share of tow vehicles, boat trailers and dual cabs than anywhere else we service, and those vehicles face a problem ordinary cars do not.

Launching means reversing a painted or galvanised frame into salt water several times a month, then towing it home and letting it dry with the salt still on it. The tow vehicle copes with ramp spray, salt running down the rear bumper and constant highway kilometres in between. Meanwhile the boat gelcoat takes UV from above and again reflected off the water.

Ceramic coating works on gelcoat and marine paint as well as automotive clear coat, and the benefit is more obvious than on a car. We are fifteen minutes south at Arundel.

What We Do

Tinting And Coating For Coomera Cars And Boats

Ceramic Window Tinting

Carbon XP at $395, Ceramic IR at $595 and Evolve IR Ceramic at $895. For towing, infrared rejection is the one worth paying for, because an afternoon run west puts sun straight through the side glass.

Ceramic Paint Coatings

From $995 over eight years to $1,795 over ten. The same coatings go on automotive clear coat, marine gelcoat and painted trailer frames, with preparation adjusted for each surface.

Boat & Trailer Coating

The trailer is the part that actually goes underwater in salt and the part people rinse least. Coating a painted or powder coated frame is usually the best value element of a marine job.

Three films for the tow vehicle. Carbon XP at $395, Ceramic IR at $595 and Evolve IR Ceramic at $895, all with a lifetime warranty and no extra charge for shade. For towing, infrared rejection is the one worth paying for, because an afternoon run west puts the sun straight through the side glass. Specifications on our window tinting page.

Coatings run $995 over eight years to $1,795 over ten, and they go on gelcoat and painted trailer frames as readily as automotive clear coat. On anything that goes near a boat ramp that is the difference between a rinse that removes salt and one that spreads it. Correction is quoted separately from $100 for the first hour. Detail on our ceramic coating page.

Cars, boats and trailers are all handled at Arundel, fifteen minutes south, and multi vehicle jobs are scheduled together.

What We See On Coomera Cars And Boats

Coomera brings us a different mix from anywhere else on the Coast, because a lot of what arrives is towing something. On the tow vehicle we see salt streaking down the rear bumper and tailgate from ramp spray, stone chipping at the front from highway kilometres between here and wherever the boat goes in, and a dull band along the lower doors where road film and salt have combined.

On the boat itself the pattern is chalking. Gelcoat oxidises under UV and it gets hit twice, once from above and again from light reflected off the water. Upholstery on an uncovered boat fails years earlier than the same material would in a car for exactly that reason.

Trailers are the ones people forget. A galvanised or painted frame gets reversed into salt water repeatedly, then towed home and left to dry with the salt still on it. Rinsing helps, but on a bare surface a lot of the rinse water simply spreads the salt around rather than lifting it. That is the specific problem a coating solves on marine gear.

Coomera Questions, Answered

The things our Coomera customers ask us most.

Do you coat boats and jet skis, not just cars?

Yes. Gelcoat, marine paint and painted trailer frames all take a ceramic coating. The preparation differs from automotive work because gelcoat oxidises differently to clear coat, but the principle and the payoff are the same, and the salt water exposure makes it more worthwhile than on a road car.

If it is a painted or powder coated frame, it is usually the best value part of the job. The trailer is the component that actually goes underwater in salt, and it is the one people rinse least thoroughly. A coating makes that rinse far more effective at carrying salt away rather than leaving a film behind.

Tow vehicles get the worst of both worlds. Ramp spray at the back, highway grime and stone chips at the front. A coating handles the chemical side. For the M1 kilometres, ceramic tint with high infrared rejection makes the towing itself far more comfortable, particularly on afternoon runs west into the sun.

Effectively, yes. Water reflects a meaningful portion of UV back upward, so surfaces get hit from above and below. It is why boat gelcoat chalks and why upholstery on an uncovered boat fails years before a car interior would.

Around fifteen minutes south via the M1 or Brisbane Road to Kendor Street, Arundel. We also see plenty of customers from Upper Coomera, Hope Island, Oxenford and Pimpama.

We work on a range of vehicles beyond cars. Talk to us about the specific glass and we will tell you honestly whether film is appropriate for it, because curved and acrylic marine glazing has limitations that flat automotive glass does not.

The principle is the same but the preparation is not. Gelcoat is more porous than automotive clear coat and it oxidises differently, so it usually needs more compounding before anything goes on. Once prepared, the coating bonds and behaves the same way. Given the salt exposure marine gear sees, the benefit is more obvious than on a road car.

Yes, and it is a sensible way to do it because the preparation work overlaps. Tell us what you are bringing when you book so we can allow the right amount of bay time. Multi vehicle jobs get scheduled together rather than spread across separate visits.

It is one of the clearer cases for the higher infrared films. Towing means long stretches at highway speed with the sun on one side of the cabin, and infrared is the part of that you actually feel as radiant heat. Larger vehicles also have more glass area, so both the problem and the improvement scale up.
